High School Bible Class

I look forward to the day of graduation,
heading on the way out of this stupid nation.
But before I do, I will have to go through many a tribulation.
Of all of theses, the bane is of course Bible station.
With long dreary recitals ahead,
and Bible tests, filling me with dread.
People can say the Bible is our friend, but to these
I say, with friends like these, who needs enemies?

Old Ford Factory and Battle of Bukit Timah

The old Ford factory in Bukit Timah is the place of the capitulation of Singapore and the beginning of a long ordeal under the Japanese Occupation. Lieutenant General Arthur Ernest Percival surrendered to General Tomoyuki Yamashita, who happened to be low on supplies and heavily ounumbered at the time. Yamashita employed a succesful bluff which got Lowell to surrender.

Osama Bin Laden/ Friend

I do not necessarily care about Osama Bin Laden. He's dead now, so who cares?

As for a particular friend, is not showing favoritism bad? So why should I exalt one over the other?

The now non-existant small groups

Ladies and gentlemen, to me,
This is a review on our now seemingly non-existant small groups. Whether our administration thinks this is a good idea or not, I have no idea. I think we should have more small groups than home room, if only because small groups are more enjoyable and memorable.

Review- 7/11 Party

It turned out to be worse than my already low expectations. I really wonder... Administration gone bad? Who's half-baked idea was this? We couldn't even go to the fourth story for crying out loud! We need more fun!! Also, I really wonder whether it is wise to let out a bunch of sugar high, caffeined up adolescents loose into the night at 11 p.m. It's almost as preposterous as the Allied idea during World War Two of building a fleet of pyrekrete (ice) ships against Germany! It's absolutely ridiculous!

Hate My Life (Not emo, just complaining)

When people ask me why I'm deppressed,
I'd usually answer "I'm just stressed".
Of course I'm lying, but what the h*ll?
Who gives a crap about what I tell?
I have a mind, emotions and soul,
but people treat me as if they were a hole.
How do you think I feel when I'm the worst,
or treated like that, as if I was cursed.
I'm the butt of everyone's jokes,
blamed for everything and teased till I choke.
Pushed out of every spot wherever I sit,
and when people take mine, I can't do sh*t.
People know I can't play basketball well,
but when I fail, they say "What the h*ll!"
When something smells bad, of course it's me!
Whenever it's bad, blame the Chi!
Criticize, joke, evict and tease.
With friends like these, who needs enemies?

7/11 Party (Or why I'm not going)

If you are a person who doesn't go to our school, you won't get this post. However, it is basically a fake lock-in. The lock-in was a flawless work of art, an occasion celebrated by the entire middle school. However, recent changes have been made, forcing us to stay only untill eleven. This, not only having lost the glamor of an all-nighter, has also only left a deep rift of sadness and nostalgia, because the 7/11 party is only a shadow of its precedent. All it does is remind the middle school just how much they miss the lock-in. Although there may be temporary laughter at the party, which is mostly obligated, it is still but ephemeral because when students return home, they think, "Was that all? That was only a fraction of the fun that used to be."

The worst part is, is that the only reasons I have heard are not well-founded. The first was the time of teachers who were willing to chaperone the event. This is not a sturdy reason, because only after a preliminary search I have found more than the required quota of teachers willing to chaperone the event. Another concern was the student's health. This is yet another ridiculous assertion, because this has happened year after year after year, and I have attended them all. I have suffered no ill effects and neither have any of my classmates. The third reason was the mess that the lock-in left. Is that really worth a concern? Whether it be a 12-hour party or a 4-hour party, both will leave quite a mess. Even with a mess, the teachers enforce discipline and cleanliness, as well as an obligation to clean up your messes.

There are many well-founded reasons as to why the lock-in has succeeded so well over the years, instead of being scrapped due to low attendence. They combine the glamor of an all-nighter, companionship with friends, an opportunity to go crazy, and plenty of food. They offer a sleep-over in the biggest house we can find. It also offers a great time to kick back, relax and watch people freak out. It allows people to get closer and grow to know and love one other better. It allows people to simply talk and move around, get more familiar with the campus, without any time restraints.

In conclusion, there are many people who enjoy the lock-in and want it back. A 7/11 party sounds feasible but in fact, its shortcomings and unpopularity far outweigh its usefulness. Neither are any of the reasons against a lock-in very sturdy or well-founded. The influence of the lock-in is fecund, perforating everyone who has been to it and leaving much to be desired from the 7/11 party. Mr. Herring, if you are reading this, you had better change it back. It is too late this year, as too many people are already prejudiced against this party, but it is never too late as long as this school stands. Redeem the name of the office of pincipality, and show an ear for suggestions, instead of making drastic movements that are extremely unpopular and will be condemned by everyone.

Sin Cera

Sin cera" is a phrase from Spanish, literally meaning "unwaxed". If anything, it really has no meaning on its own, but a long time ago, it had its reference in sculptors. When making a sculpture, many times sculptors made mistakes. Instead of getting costly marble and starting again, they repaired the mistake with wax. When a sculpture is made flawlessly, it is hailed as "sin cera" or without wax. Nowadays, it has its meaning as perfect, completely flawless. It also is the root word of the English word "sincere".

Mission Statement

Ummmmmmm.................. I really dunno how to expound upon this topic. Frankly, I think that its a self explanatory mission statement. If you don't get it, read the B-I-B-L-E. And we didn't do much for Easter at all. Can't do much for stature, can gain wisdom and can gain favor. Kk?

Easter

....... Really?
Could we ever have a free choice in what we write in our blog? Seriously. It IS a blog.
Anyway, Easter isn't really that much of a remembered date in my calendar. I always forget about it until it happens. Then it goes away just as fast. I don't really commemorate Easter at all, and any pagan symbolage isn't really unexpected. The church, trying to convert pagans, likened some dates and symbols to Christian meanings, effectively Christianizing paganism.

Goodbye (My Love)

"Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Take a bow, but before you do, pause:
My heart is broken now, without a cause.
I have played the game, and you have won.
Though your glory may glow like a rising sun,
or diminish until there is next to none.
Remember, you will always be my only one.

Mission Statement

A mission statement is basically your goal, your personal meaning in life. For example, Walt Disney had "Make people happy." I guess mine should be "I will grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man, just as Christ did." +546265845462565656

The Entire Row in Front of Me

There are some people, ever crazy.
At least it seems, for it is quite hazy.
The first one is of course the weirdest.
The only guy, who "passes" every test.
The second one, a definite screamer.
Who'd beat every person with their femur.
The third of course is much of a talker.
I'm pretty sure she'd have a bunch of stalkers.
The last of course is the looniest of the bunch
To what she does I have no hunch.
To her, all I can say is, "Sah!
남자?"

High School (cont.)

I don't really care what I experience in high school, as long I get a full scholarship from a good college from my grades. I don't really care for a change in high school, except maybe running for student council so I can put it on a resume. I can't think of too much trouble in high school, though.

High School

I plan to go to ICS for high school, get a full scholarship from a good college, and become a lawyer. Most likely here, I'll be living. Not anywhere else, if I'm going to this school. But first chance I get, I'm fleeing to America.

What I know of the Actors from ICS who are in the play

Well, I don't really know any of the actors in the play. As  in, I know them but don't know much about them. Thus, I really can't say much for the actors....

Litany against Anger

Thou shalt not anger.
Anger is a mistake, the faith-killer.
Anger is the little slip that brings about total destruction.
Thou shalt let anger wash over you.
When all else is gone, thou shalt remain.

Anything you want to add, just comment.

Never Mind

The blob's eaten all the fries.... Never mind.
The zombie's given me a detention...... Never mind.
The fish has given me a headache........ Never mind.
Crap, sent down to the fish again........ Never mind.

Because no darkness lasts forever, and dead men rise up never.
So don't waste time........ Crap, the blob's caused another earthquake....

Spring Break

During the break, I plan to lounge around and play video games. Then we go off to Cherating Beach during the middle of the week. I guess then we lounge around on the beach and eat lots of seafood and sit in air conditioned rooms. It's going to be very lazy. :)

Zugswang by Andre Surridge

Written by Andre Surridge based on the true story of the defection of the musician of Maxim Shostakovich. Set in Nuremburg, 1981, it was created on 1991. About the musician running from a communist country to the West. Zugzwang means that when you are in a position where complacency is best, but you are unable to stay so.

Deppressing Poem

In the darkness of the night,
when sadness envelops all in sight.
When rain comes and mingles with tears,
when it strengthens all your fears.

Love is fickle and death is swift;
both can just as quickly shift.
Love is just a biased sorter
and death wil never give any quarter.

But remember, after night comes the dawn,
and sunshine follows rain just like a song always sawn.
Though love is ephemeral and death is deep,
both you entrust your soul to keep.

Stuff this week

Not really much more that happened this week....................................................................................
Other than the occasional blowout or argument............................. Maybe a possible kidnapping of my person..................  Other than that, not really much. Including extraditions or orgies of state-sponsored torturous death, also known as sports practice. :)

Middle School

Something happens when middle school comes,
when your teachers change from angels to demons.
You move on from doing simple sums,
and suddenly you can end up with 17 sons.
With teachers such as the Great White Blob
who can probably take out an entire mob.                      (By jumping!)
Or teachers like the walking dead,
who is obviously both deaf in the head.

Who hires these monsters I do not know,
he must be quite crazy though.
He must hate us students quite badly,
and trying to make us fail quite sadly.

Another Weekend?

Well, another lazy weekend, albeit without the two hour long math tuition. So boring but relaxing, after the work out. I hope I don't have to write something like this again. Because I never seem to have anything to write about. At all. Seriously, we need something better to write about.

Please Mr. Herring?

Life, Love and Death

Life begins with a single choice,
and with the same choice, so it ends.
No matter in what life you poise,
no ones fate can you bend.

Love is such a fickle thing,
sometime enough to make your heart sing.
Yet bitter folly it is to make,
because soon your heart is sure to break.

Death's stroke none can evade,
any bargain soon is paid.
You will pass, and soon so will I,
but a hero's name will never die.

Small groups

I have learned much from small groups, such as how to make spit bubbles. But probably the most important thing that was learned (and probably the only one) was about friendship. We learned how to notice good friends and to be a better friend. :)

Sadness :(

What can cause sadness,
misery beyond belief?
Sometimes it's when you get more or less,
or when your enemy becomes the chief.

Sometimes it's the human mind,
with its infinite machinations.
Leaving you an empty rind,
without a scrap of patience.

But what really tears you apart,
is when someone breaks your heart.

Sad poem....?

I think I ain't ever seen,
someone so lovely with a sheen.

Someone who could make me so heartsick,
who just makes me wanna cry.
It makes me wanna beat myself with a stick,
and I'm just much too shy...

Someone who can be as annoying as h**l
yet make me find humor in a shell.
Though this last fact takes away shine,
I know she can never be mine...

My weekend (apparently)

All I can say is that this weekend is gonna be dull. Probably just going to sit around on a couch doing nothing. Probably going to get all fat and lazy. Unless my parents force me out of the house. Then I lounge around outside. :)

My Preferred Profession

My ultimate goal is to be president and change the world. Hopefully for the better... But what I want to do in the interim would be to either be a politician, a historian, a football player or a person in the military. Whatever branch I'm in I would be happy with. :)

Observation of Art Class

The art class was quite disciplined and yet joked around quite a bit. I really wonder how they got so far without squabbling. They were weird... :)

The Frogs by Aristophanes

The play "The Frogs" by Aristophanes is meant to be a comedy. It is about the god Dionysus, who tries to resurrect the poet Euripides, because Athens is in much trouble. After many misadventures in Hades, Aeschylus beats out Euripides in a competition so Dionysus decides to resurrect Aeschylus over Euripides.

Blunders

There are some big mistakes you can make,
for which your life can take.
Somtimes it is from making fun,
for which you won't see the light of the sun.
The one thing you won't live to regret or sue,
is if IT gets annoyed enough to sit on you.

JUSTIN BIEBER IS A 61 YEAR OLD PEDOPHILE!!!

Chinese New Year

I really didn't do anything for Chinese New Year. Basically we celebrated it early on the 1st of January where we get a bunch of cash. :) It was fun though.

Favorite story character

Apparently it was Odysseus, the main character of the Odyssey. It happens after the Iliad which was when a bunch of people were trying to get this person named Helen back from Troy. They win but Odysseus still has to get home. After like 20 years he gets back, beats up some suitors and lives happily ever after.

Poem of fulfillment

What happens when you waste,
your entire life eating paste?
Then you move on,
for something way bigger to chew on.
Two double quarter pounders,
and add in a giant flounder.
We have an example for this life
for it teaches in school, giving us much strife.

Moral: Don't waste your life. Don't eat so much that you might... Never mind. No way you could ever be THAT fat.

Any relation to any person, living or dead, is completely coincidental and is sorely regretted.
(NOT!)

My favorite place.

I love snow. Something you'll never see in Singapore... Just look at it!
One place I love is Seoul, Korea. Even though they make you go to school on saturday, Korea definitely makes up for it a lot with good food, cheap LANing rates and snow. LOTS of snow. :)

Obesity

I think I won't ever see, something so ugly as obesity.
Something that could kill your cat, with 350 pounds of fat.

Something so fat, soft and squishy, with marks, of obesity.
You know who it is, therefore, who will give you a brain sore.

Haunted place

This is a haunted place
remember to keep up pace;
for if you straggle,
for your life we cannot haggle
Quick! Look there! Pay attention!
There is a zombie yelling "Detention!"
Walk away slowly, toward it's hind:
For it is both deaf and blind.
Listen! Feel the ground.
That is a pale giant of 400, by pound.
Though you can hear her from miles away,
do not look at her, or you will pay.
Who makes these demons I do not know
I know who they serve and he is low.
From the largest giant to the smallest midge,
they all serve the dark god known as "Nollij"

Philippines

Well, today we learned that the Philippines had an interesting way of fighting. Not interesting as in unexpected, but interesting as in fascinating. Due to the heavily jungled and mountainous terrain, the fighting style really suited them. Geurilla warfare meant hand to hand fighting with everything from small blades to rocks to fists. The short, fast blades of the arnis perfectly suited their way of fighting, fighting for liberation from both the Spanish and the Americans.

Mavis Beacon

Mavis Beacon was once most feared
pillaging villages, peasants speared.
Until she vanished, at once forgotten
now she's become a typing warden.

What is her plan now?

Com class

I really wonder when we learn
something other than a tern.
We've not learned much about
computers (small or stout)
I really do not like this sham
it really feels like a bunch of spam
